I recently bought a Giant Rincon for my brother. The front derailleur is a Shimano CO50 and there are some problems with it. Shifting doesn't go very smooth and is attended with a grinding sound, which often stays after shifting. Since the bike is new and still in the warranty period, I can always bring it to the LBS for a tune-up. The bike needs to be brought in for the first tune-up anyway so that may also play a role.
Anyway, I've read many bike reviews where people complained about the performance of the Altus front derailleur. So considering that the CO50 group is lower then Altus, I was thinking about replacing it if the problems still occur after the tune-up(s). If so, I'm thinking about Alivio or Deore. Any opinions on this?
