I'm doing it but if the weather is bad, I may ride my commuter (fenders & carrying capacity) for three gaps instead of six.

I'll be there doing the full 6 gaps. It's going to hurt, but it'll be a ton of fun.
Me and the wife are coming from Ohio, she's doing 3 gap I'm doing 6 gap. So what do you Ga. people think, will the weather give us a break? I may end up on the 3 gap with her if the weather is bad.
BTW look for the two people with "Lorain Wheelmen" jersey's at the start and say hi! The jersey's are very colorful but mostly blue and yellow that stand out. How about anyone else, how do we pick ya out?

I'll be wearing my Florida State kit. I'm usually pretty easy to pick out.

did notice that the weather service has lowered the chance for rain to 30%, here's hoping it will get lower

Yea, I've been keeping my eye on the weather. Glad to see the downgrade from scattered T-storms (40%) to few showers (30%)...
I'll be doing Six Gap, looking forward to it!
Weather is looking better. I live here but this will be my first, doing Three Gap. Been training a lot...not sure it's enough but we'll see. They been cleared to accept up to 3000 applications this year (previous was limited to 2500) so should be a good crowd. Don't forget there is an Expo on the Dahlonega square all day saturday as well.
Ride safe.

We'll be doing it on the Tandem. Should be the only Orange tandem with Velobrew kits.

One million thanks to Dahlonega WheelWorks (http://www.wheelworksga.com/home.php). Not only were they official sponsors but they provided a mechanic's station at the Jack's Gap rest stop which saved the day for me.
I broke my rear gear cable  before the climb up to Jack's and, after making the bike as road worthy as possible, I struggled up to the rest stop. If I hadn't been able to get a cable and the tools I needed, my day would have been over. Even with a fully functional bike I had a really tough day, but it would have been hopeless if I hadn't been able to fix the cable.
So if you're ever in Dahlonega in need of anything bike-related, please check them out. Their website (http://www.wheelworksga.com/home.php) is much more interesting than most business websites; whoever does it has sense of humor.
What an amazing event!! Man I couldn't believe the break we got on the weather, I thought the day was doomed. Who could have quessed we would ride in such beautiful weather as that after an all night rain!!
Me and the wife had a great time, ain't say it wasn't hard, but we both completed our rides better than we could have hoped. My wife was on 3 gap and finished in 3:58 52nd place and 6th for women, her climb time was pretty impressive as well. I did the 6 gap and finished in 6:42 in 160th place 16th in the 50-54 men My KOM was 1:11 for 207th not bad for a flat lander!
Thanks too all you Georgia people!! What a friendly bunch of people! I will recommend this ride, as well as the location to all who ask. I envy you guys and the scenery you get to enjoy on just your regular day to day rides.
Thanks, The maddock's
