I recently bought a used Downtube with a IGH and just noticed when adjusting the HUB that the chain tensioners also called chain tugs are missing.
So I went i search of these online and no luck.....everything I have found so far is for BMX 14mm and is therefore the wrong size. The unique things about the DT are the hub space is ~10mm and the dropout metal thickness is ~8mm. Also there is distance on this bike that it needs to span is just over 3cm.
Anyone have any idea where to pick up a couple spares?
thanks
You don't need them. Just tighten your axle nuts properly and you should be fine.

But the tug nuts make it easier to tighten the axle nuts properly and help them to stay that way.
Therefore, I'd also like to know what other people are using.

I'm using THESE (http://www.airbomb.com/itemMatrix.asp?ic=14097&eq=&MatrixType=2) on my Mu Uno ... Gaerlan also sells some that would work that are even less money..
I used tugs for a while. I don't remember what they were; cheap ones, at any rate. They worked, in that they kept chain tension where I wanted it, but they didn't work, in that the chain still came off sometimes. The problem, it turned out, was that the chain was worn out. Now I replace my chains rather frequently and don't bother with the tugs.

Bruce, from the the picture of the tugs your using they look like plastic, are they? They seem huge too perhaps its just the picture.
To those saying you dont need them....I know you dont have to have them; but I still think they would be nice to have esp if you need to change a flat on the rear, they help to get things lined up.
So my question is still open...anyone know where to get tugs to fit the DT. Or if anyone is not using their tugs that came with the DT, I would be willing to buy them off you.
thanks
