Cyclocross - wanting a unique bike... anything like a Salsa La Cruz... ?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm wanting to build a single chainring bike. With mustache bars or dirt drops, depending how the frame fits me. I never ride my mountain bike any more. Too heavy, too hard, not my thing. I really only ride on hardpack and nice trails when I do go out. So I was feeling out a simple large tire urban cross bike.

I really like the La Cruz frameset because I can use the 650 wheels and tires that I already have, or switch to a set of 700c tires depending on the terrain.

is there any other frameset I could do this with?

Rawland bikes (http://www.rawlandcycles.com/) (the disc version, at least) can do this.

That's a pretty sweet frame and bike!!! I'm going to have to try and find them in stock somewhere and measure it out. Great find!

If it ever becomes actually available, the Voodoo Nakisi (http://www.voodoocycles.net/nakisi.htm) will be unlike anything out there.

Both of those frames are pretty spiffy.... are there any framesets that are actually available for purchase? :)

Rawland bikes (http://www.rawlandcycles.com/) (the disc version, at least) can do this.

According to their site all they have in stock is XS. Still, the bikes look great and I wouldn't mind having one.

Rawland's new models, Ravn and Drakkar (http://www.rawlandcycles.com/_uls/section/Rawland-Drakkar-Ravn.pdf), are available as of this week and they are both disc-only and set up for either single-speed, internal hubs or derailleurs. These are some appealing bikes. The Ravn offers a flat top tube and shorter chain stay. The Drakkar has a sloping top tube and long chain stay.

Maybe check out Singular bikes out of the UK. You can now get them here in the states. I really like the looks of the peregrine

The Singular Peregrine & the Voodoo Nakisi are the two bikes that I'd be looking at. I'd run them SS, but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.

I just want to know when someone will finally get around to offering a set of hydraulic brakes with proper levers for drop bars.

Take a look at the Raleigh Sojourn (http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/road/sojourn/). My local dealer has them in stock and they are sweet! Don't overlook the One Way (http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/road/one-way/) and Clubman (http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/road/clubman/) either.
