Hey guys,

I was wondering -- what's the best way to mount a Planet Bike Superflash onto the back of a Brompton? I couldn't find anything in the search besides using zip ties. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

You could mount it to the seatpost, using the supplied hardware. Or to a trunk bag or pannier, if you're using one of these.

I have tried putting a screw into the soft plastic on several lights bodies to secure them to the rack. If you have a rack it should be fine.

Seatpost would affect the fold.

The rear rack or trunk bag is very low to the ground and making the blinky not nearly as useful in tighter urban situations.

If you have a saddle bag on the bike, I would put it there. Alternatively, if you wear one, you can often find a place to mount it on a helmet.

Bring your saddle up a notch and install it on the smaller OD of your seatpost. It will not affect the fold.

Or use plastic ties to secure it to the seatpost rails

On my extra long seatpost i have used the old mounting from a Vistalite Cuelite, the superflash sits nicely into the rear of the Brompton Pentaclip stopping it rotating if accidentally knocked:

+1 on the seatpost location. I have the superflash too and I mount it at the same place, with no effect on the fold. Well, the seat is a bit higher, but it doesn't bother me. The advantage in this position is that the light is higher and hence more visible than at the rack area.

Sometimes I put my blinker at the back of my helmet. It works great if you're the type who keeps your head up in an upright position.

Absolutely. That's what I did with my M3L; the mount has been 100% troublefree ever since.

If you ride with a helmet, one might consider the Planet Blinky 3H. It swivels and is weighted such that it maintains a good position for visibility.

Does the Brompton still need the pentaclip to mount standard saddles with rails?
