A keg hand-pumped definitely has a worse taste than one charged with a CO2 cartridge.

.... if you drink the keg over a few days, maybe.

A fresh keg that is dispensed with a hand pump should be no different than a co2 dispensed keg, at first. Oxidation quickly takes over and makes the beer "stale". But that takes a day or three.

Maybe the hand pump was contaminated?

Yeah definitely sound like either the pump was unclean/contaminated, or maybe they let the keg get too hot or something and the beer got skunky.

There's your first problem...you're supposed to drink what's in the keg, not eat the keg itself.:innocent:

Keg beer absolutely bites. Flat, compared to bottle or cans and of course that means no big ass manly burps. All the boozers in the bar drink draft cause it is cheap.

I drink draft because I think it tastes better.

Depends on how the kegs are maintained. Draft beer not done right tastes awful. Done correctly (where the spouts and stuff are cleaned), it tastes a lot better than bottled any time.

If a place lets their tubes and stuff get grungy, then you will end up with infected beer and horrid taste.

Agreed. Good beer drafted well is amazing. I had a wonderful Chocolate Stout at a new pub the other night. Mmmmmmm
