Must be a sign of the recession. It is sale time on the "Old" models at the LBS and I am not picking up many postings on new bikes being bought.
Must be down to a reason but Just can't believe that it is lack of "Want"
I know when I went to my LBS a few weeks ago- they had trouble getting bikes from their suppliers. Giants have had to issue the 2010 models a bit earlier than usual as the 09 bikes on certain models had sold out. And they are difficult to get hold of. The latest TCR models are walking out of the shop as they arrive and no test models available at present.
Have to admit that I am not in the market for another bike at present but I am missing the reports from other that still have the requirement for N+1

I'm afraid there is nothing coming from me. I expect I'll be reducing the number I own. If my RANS Stratus were easier to transport, I might not bother to ride any of the rest.

Here is all I could find at the community yard sale - all 24" wheeled girls MTB. Specialized Rockhopper, Schwinn Ranger 24, and a Magna.

Edit - it's N+4 -1 Since I sold the Schwinn and bought a Dahon Boardwalk folder today. The folder is for my wife or me, the smaller bikes are flippers that are paying for it.

I think it's a sign of the economic times - dealers around here don't seem to have the old inventory, possibly due to their cutback on ordering, when buyers started to cut back.

I picked up a Specialized Rockhopper a couple of months ago and have re-discovered a love for MTB's!:giver:
I love the SRAM components and I hooked it up with Shimano M-545 pedals and I can go all day...well, you know, for an old guy. :thumb:

I'm down to N=1............really..................really. The original White Rabit TT bike is a bare frame that may become a piece of wall art. There's my wife's beach cruiser. I have an old Centurion that belonged to my oldest son. I thought I'd sell that......or donate it.......or keep it for a hotrod conversion ala 69 Camaro as in modern 8 speed with the original stem shifters and modern brakes and 700c wheels and......................
No.............I'm N=1 and that's the truth...............phffffffft.

I have not done an N+1 since I bought the Dolan track bike in 2004. I attribute it to enhanced spirituality. The ultimate goal is to remove all desire for material things; riding the bike itself is enough of a spiritual reward.
Plus, I think buying new bikes with the latest 11-speed drivetrain components only encourages them. I remember when Campagnolo stuff was contemporary for many seasons. Now you're upgrading your drivetrain every year, and it ain't cheap. So I have rebelled, and now just ride a fixed gear. And now, a track cog that used to cost $1.95 now sells for $24.95 and up.
Reminds me of being in Mexico. Every street corner in Mexico City there's some beggar with their hand out. Everywhere you go, somebody with their hand out. It's the same thing in North America, but the guys with the hand out are either the government or the corporations. It's so nice being out on the bike and not having to deal with all these hands out.
But I still can't escape materiality. I still acquire upgrades to my track bike. The last was the San Marco Regal saddle I mounted this past weekend and did 200 km on. What a comfortable saddle, a real enhancement to the riding experience, and worth every penny. A smaller incremental cost than N+1, but far greater utility, in my opinion.

I have all I need for now, but some of the news ones are sure tempting.:D

There was a hint in my picture in the "Pie Ride" thread - the picture I posted of a piece of pie in my kitchen surrounded by some bike stuff.
That's all I'm sayin' for now. (edit: couldn't resist. another hint below)

I was thinking my N+1 would be a simple rebuild or Upgrade of the Jamis from Sora to Ultegra and a carbon fork. I still plan of working on that upgrade as the parts become available. But I have an N+1 in mind and will be looking for a Comfort/ Hybrid to replace the Revive LX. Turns out my wife is so impressed with what cycling is doing for me she has decided if I will ride with her she will start riding. The caveat however is she has to have a comfortable bike that she can easily reach the ground on. The sales are starting and I have a friend that build bikes for her to look at. I am thinking something with 700c wheels but it will all come down to test rides. So if all goes well I should be testing new rides the first week of October. ;)
PS: I promise to not drop my wife for any reason when I ride with her. I am no fool.
I just sold my recumbent which did nothing but collect dust in the garage. I'm now down to 3 bikes which I believe is where I will stay. On the other hand, I've no objection to upgrading the current rides.

In the past week I had a broken bike replaced and an old one, that underwent a restoration, come home. My wife started to count bikes, so, for now I'll be laying low.
I've saved for & lusted after a new one, but decided to take the cash and put it away in case it needs to pay taxes and a mortgage payment. Job security seems ever more elusive and fragile. If, however, things get better, I'm headed the route of a Merlin Cyrene.

I haven't felt the need for N+1 since I have the road bike and touring bike. They both fit perfectly and cover my needs for the type of riding I do.
I've looked at the new Madone's and didn't see anything that would tempt me into trading mine. Maybe in a couple years. I think the 7 year old granddaughter will make a great riding partner when she's a little older so I may hold onto it until she's big enough to ride it.

Just back from this afternoon's ride, 15 miles on each, both good
I bought 6 new bikes in 5 months last fall through this spring. Nothing since, although Specialized just sent me a "get well soon" card?
I am happy with my fleet but always have one eye open. :)
The recession was not my fault..

The Thunderhead metallic gray frameset boarded a brown truck earlier today. I was going to wait 'til next year but the 2010 color isn't to my liking. Bikeman.com is closing out the 16" & 20" Pugsley framesets for $405 + shipping.

Maybe it has something to do with the personnel at the LBS. I thought I wanted a new bike, and started looking about 6 weeks ago. I just want a lower end road bike, and I know what looks good to me. I asked about a Cannondale CAAD9 5. The dealer said there probably weren't any left, especially in 54cm, since that's the most popular size. The 2010's appeared on the web, and I think they're all ugly. At the Felt dealer, I asked about an F85. I think the 2009 F85 is awesome looking. He had a 56cm marked down, on the floor, and when I said I need a 54, he said if he could get one, he wouldn't give me the sale price on it. The 2010's came out on the website about 3 days later, and no more F85. I don't like any of the 2010's. I asked a Specialized dealer about the new Secteur, "Never heard of it," was the reply. I saw some 2010 Trek models I might like. The Pilot 2.0 looks pretty good, but comes in 53 or 55. Without actually sitting on one, I have no idea which would be the better fit. The salesperson said they probably weren't going to stock that model. I asked about the 2010 1.5. He told me I wouldn't like that--it was a downgrade from 2009. But I didn't like the looks of the 2009! After a while, I checked anothe Trek dealer, after I saw the Pilot on the store's website. I told the salesperson I saw it added to the store's online catalog, to which he replied, "Oh they don't make the Pilot anymore."
So until I actually stumble across something in my size in a store, I'm done looking.

Too broke to buy anything new this year. I've had a rebuild project going on my 1980 Fuji S-12S for several months to make it a better commuter. I just can't seem to get motivated to get busy on it. Maybe soon.
Hoping to get my medical bills paid up so I can look at building a new road bike in 2010. Thinking high end steel or titanium for my next long ride bike. I know carbon would be easier to find, but it just doesn't appeal to me as much as metal.

I did a N+1 recently, but also did a N-1 so no net add. I am at 3 right now, a neighborhood/grocery getter hybrid, an older steel bike and new old stock Serotta Fierte iT that is now my main ride.
I certainly did my part to push up the economy, but the wife now indicates that I can't complain anymore about her shoe collection.

I'd love to go N-3+1, selling my classic Masi, perhaps the Mondonico, and our Breezer Liberty, and put the $$ into a custom sport-tour/randonneuring frame for me. But I don't really see the prices where I think they should be, especially for the Masi.

I've seen 2010 Trek Pilots listed on bike shops' web pages. Haven't seen any official announcement from Trek. If you normally fit a 54, then odds are that you would get a good fit from either the 53 or 55 ... but wouldn't know which would be best for you. I have ridden 54's that were a decent fit for me and I liked the 53cm Pilot, but you could lean in the other direction.
Just found the 2010 Pilots on Bikepedia:

Another new "Trek" I think is interesting is the new Gary Fisher Cronos road bike (Trek owns Gary Fisher). With the demise of the Lemond brand, Trek is building up the Gary Fisher line.
The Cronos is interesting (to me, anyway) because it has hidden fender mounts. You pop in a little attachment, and you can install fenders. There is enough clearance to run 25c's with fenders.
Here in Seattle, we can ride bikes 52 weeks a year, as long as you're prepared to ride in the rain, and there has been a shortage of CF bikes that can (easily) fit full-coverage fenders.
http://fisherbikes.com/bike/model/cronus
There's a video somewhere on their website that shows how the fender mounts work

Yes. They took the old all-steel Lemond Poprad and turned it into a lineup of 3 steel cyclocross bikes bearing the Gary Fisher label. With interesting names like the "Presidio" "Erwin" and "Lane."
