Newbie here - first post:

I've read a lot about buying a first bike on these forums. I've decided to buy new from my LBS for all the usual reasons. The best value I have found seems to be a Masi Nouva Strada. It's two-tone blue. My guess is it's a 2003.

It has ALL Tiagra components (shifters, brakes, hubs, cranks, etc.). I can't remember the stem and rims, but they're a common brand. It also comes with a carbon fork, entry level shimano clipless pedals, free tuneups, all for $700!

Is Masi a good brand? The AL frame is finished nicely with all welds ground out. Assuming it fits nicely, this seems like a great deal.

Opinions?

For what it's worth, most bike shops won't include clipless pedals and the component mix is solid enough that you can't really get hurt at $700. Worst case scenario, when you outgrow the bike and want to go lighter and faster, you'll have a good 'cross bike.

I have several friends who have Masi bikes, including one like yours but with slightly better components. They really like their Masi's. That sounds like a reasonable price given the components.
