After Six Gap I'm going to visit some friends in Boone, NC but I am completely unfamiliar with the area. Google Maps gives me a few different options, but I'm curious if anyone from the area can tell me the quickest route. Is going a little out of the way to take I-85 quicker than taking back roads?

The I-85 option will be the easiest driving - the other roads are backroads until you get up to I-40 - but you'll get to relive the fun of going over Neel's Gap after you conquer it at 6-Gap.

Haha very true. I have driven and rode over Neels a couple of times. On a map, taking back roads seems to be kind of confusing, but I managed to borrow a GPS so going that way would be a bit easier now.
