Hey all-

I am converting an old Bridgestone 400 into a SS and I was wondering about a custom tt pad. I have an old saddle that came off of my Nishiki International (post pics later in the week when I get back home) that is black with cross stitching. It looks very classy and has a nice shape to it, along with hooks for a saddle bag. I want to make a tt pad that matches my saddle. I think it would be simple enough for my mom and or gf to attempt with my help of design.

I was hoping people could chime in if they have made there own tt pads. If so, measurements acc. to frame size and what materials used and how much it cost you. My bike is very large, 63 cm I believe so I will need a lot of material.

Thanks in advance as usual! I'll be honest, I was lazy and didn't want to search before I posted. I'll do some searching right now :).

My wife sews and has made several top tube pads for friends of mine using my Soma pad as her template. Foam pipe insulation is about a buck a foot at Home Depot and it really doesn't take that much fabric. add a velcro strip and it's done.

Post a pic of your saddle.

Sounds like a do-able project. Can you find material to match your saddle? I'd think that would be the hardest part.

Scrod, what thickness foam does she use? I am not really going after anything thick or chunky, but thin and smooth. Like I said before, I will try to have a picture of my saddle up tonight. I painted my bike a metallic copper color and think it would be insanely sweet looking to recover the saddle in the same new material as my tt pad and make the stitches in a copper color thread.
