Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - "Eρως" Greek God of Passion

I rode my first road bike today. It was a Bianchi Eros and I was mightily impressed. I know it's more of an entry level bike, but as a guy that spends his summers in Greece, I was drawn by the Greek name to this 3 year old model that was at my local bike shop. I gave it a trial ride tonight. I rode 8 mi. in 25 minutes with very little effort. I was on a bike path that I ride often. I normally average about 14 mph on this path. Tonight it was about 18 mph. I had no idea this bike would improve my speed this much over my Trek FX-7.3. I am still amazed. I'm going back soon to rent the bike for a day and really put it through it's paces - meaning hills!! If I'm still this impressed, it'll be mine on the way back home.

Oh! And yes, it's Celeste!!

Hmmm, we were lusting after an Eros a few years back but couldn't afford it. Not that it was real expensive, just wasn't cheap! I wouldn't consider it an entry level bike though. It's a sweet bike! Most Bianchis are!:thumb:

Gina's got a celeste 84 steel Bianchi that she won't let go eventhough she has a carbon fiber roadie. We've visited bikeshops where shopdudes walk out to admire the bike. I paid $80 to some dude that wanted to buy a dept store mtn bike!:eek: I dropped another $400 inot it and she loves the thing! She says it has a mind of it's own!

I'm getting the bike at 1/2 price. I was looking to spend more, but the steel bikes haven't been in Celeste for the past couple of years, except the $3-5K bikes. That's out of my price range. Besides, I like the Greek connection thing.

Hope you are enjoying it. I had to fight to not buy a new road bike especially when I realised I had only had my 1st one 6 months *LOL*. Set a new bike as my sub 200 gift *LOL*

Celeste is nice. Bianchis are nice, especially if they're steel. Like this one. Too bad it didn't fit me.

Couple hours away from SD. The trail in the pics is about 30 minutes from us. It's in Orange County area. Anaheim and Huntington Beach.:D

Back in 98'ish (?), the Eros was a pearl white, oh man I wanted that bike!:D...NIIIIIICE paint job!

I couldn't wait till this weekend. The bike shop did some fitting for me by adding a new stem. I don't know if it's perfect, but when I'm on the hoods it feels just like my FX 7.3. So, I bought it without a long ride. I did 25 minutes on it the other day and fell in love with it. "Αγαπι μου."

The "dork disk" is that large black saucer that keeps your rear derailleur from throwing your chain into the spokes. It's typically removed after a couple hundred miles once the derailleur cables have had a chance to stretch and set in. Once you're confident the rear derailleur won't over throw then feel free to remove it if it bothers you. I always leave mine on though.
