i just got my first copy of velonews, it's the one with lance on the cover (duh) and it says "postal stamp" right by his face...if i had it right in front of me, i'd say what the dates were for the issue...anyway...

on the table of contents page, there's a photo of a rider in a ditch holding his shoulder, and his bike is pretty messed up, but the caption just mentions mayo, who is off in the upper left corner in the background! what kind of moron captions a photo and doesn't even A) name all the prominent people in the photo, and B) DOESN'T EVEN MENTION THE MOST PROMINENT/INTERESTING FEATURE IN THE PHOTOGRAPH??!

so...anyway, any idea as to who this rider is? can't tell what team he's on, but he's in blue and white, and his bike is a pinarello...

hey thanks! yeah...i saw that photo and i looked at the way he was holding his shoulder and i was like "damn...broken collarbone." and then i looked at his bike, and the right lever was all bent out of whack, and it looked like the stem was broken, but it could've just been a blade of grass in the way...either way...velo news should've ID'd him in the caption.
