and im mostly thinking of weld lines on frame and rims and openings around headset and bottom bracket, etc

not as long as you clean it up when your done riding, and service stuff regularly.
Cartridge/sealed bearings are also a blessing.
Grease any metal on metal contact(seat post, stem, etc) to avoid seized parts.
The rims will be fine if their aluminum, most likely the case.

If you're asking about winter riding, the salt and sand on the roads are your main worries. I usually plan on going through a couple of $10 kmc chains if I commute during the winter. Keep some rags and some wet lube where you store your bike and wipe down and relube your chain often. It's much cheaper than replacing your cog and chainring.

Only if it rains liquid nitrogen. In that event catastrophic failure can occur.

Sounds bad, but leaving your bike outside and keeping it frozen seems to reduce the number of problems (if you live somewhere where this is not a problem).
If the crud doesn't thaw, it is much harder to get into the nooks and crannies.

i did this until my BB FROZE and i had to thaw it with my lighter so i could get to work on time! canada -50 C FTL

-50c? windchill don't matter to a bike there mr. over exaggerator. I live in Winnipeg the ****ing coldest, most horrible ****ing city in the world and it never touches -50C, -40C yeah maybe 3 days a year maybe.
But us canadians have huge hairy balls, so we can deal.

if you have a steel frame, be sure to framesave it & regularly clean/repack/lube. if you maintain your bike, you'll be fine. if you do not, your ride will rust and the components will degrade fast.

I had that problem when I would bring my bike outside after thawing out in my basement. Once I stopped riding, everything would freeze up, cables especially.
Never had a problem with it locked up outside all winter.
