BMX - i dont ride bmx.

i ride road bikes and fixed gear bikes. im building up a single speed and a standard single speed hub with a thread-on free wheel isnt going to do. i want something with serious engagement that is tough. you guys have 14mm axles but i have a way around that. i'd like a 36h hub and im not looking to break the bank - what should i get? links to online stores would be good. thanks in advance.

What is the rear spacing on your bike.Bmx hubs are 135mm

its a roadie with 126mm rear spacing. its doesnt matter, i have put 120mm track hubs on 130mm spaced steel frames. you can re-space steel.

I only run profile hubs,They are great and I never had a problem.
I have a 10t driver in mine.They have a disc brake ready rear hub too
I had that one on my 26 inch.You can order from them direct off their website.

so the profile 3/8 mini hub should be my best bet. 3/8 is like ~10mm kinda.

True, but you can lace 48H to 36H rims

Yeah, i think that sums it up. But there really is no difference feel wise between left and right hand drive. The only thing is you have to have cranks that are RHD/LHD compatible.

if i loctited the hell out of the crank bolts and pedals could i flip my bottom bracket in the shell and switch the arms to be lhd?

I'm not sure why you'd need to flip the bottom bracket, but Loctiting the pedals is all that you need to do. Well, that and maybe swapping the pedals so that the left pedal is on the right spindle, and vice-versa...

You don't need to flip BB or spindle.
I think you just need to lock tight pedals in and flip sides (you might want to use some pretty good lock tight though. But not the one that requires heat to get off). Your pedals would already be swapped if you flip cranks with pedals on, haha. You should try swapping first to see if it will work, and if it does, then get hub.

Yes, but they'd be on backwards, putting your feet further back than normal, hence why you need to swap the right pedal to the left spindle, and vice-versa.

left and right pedals have corresponding threads. left track pedals look like right track pedals. i'll just have to flip my toeclips+straps around.

Didn't realize you were planning on using toeclips, in which case you're fine. The issue I'm referring to really only applies to parallelogram-shaped pedals.
