I stopped wearing underwear when I started biking.

ordinary shorts with briefs. If they dangle, they'll tangle.
Mine never got tangled.
Did you mean the shorts, or . . . ?
Target sells "Cycling briefs". Basically briefs without all the seams or a hole for the boy to peek out of :-)

I use Andiamo men's padded briefs under regular shorts. Love 'em.

Aero Tech bike shorts here. Made in the USA! and very comfy. attractive price, too.
If you're wearing cycling shorts (padded) you don't need and want underwear.
If you're wearing street shorts wear cycling underwear, like these (http://www.rei.com/category/4500003_Cycle+Clothing/q/Cycling+Underwear).
Regular underwear is for non-cycling activities.
