Hi Folks,
I'm working on a build-up of my new Royal H custom frame built on Henry James lugs. The rear dérailleur cable guide under the bottom bracket consists of a steel eyelet that can receive a cable. However, I'm told that you're first supposed to slip a length of small plastic tubing in the eyelet first, and then slide the cable through the tubing, to avoid metal on metal friction.

Questions then:
1) what sort of tubing, and where do I get it?
2) how do you make the tubing stay put? I'd imagine that tubing would want to slide out of the eyelet w/ cable movement.

Thx,
mnr

Did you ask Henry James?
I got something like that back in the day, but it came with the tubing and two little plugs to keep the tubing in.

I have always run bare cables through such set-ups and have never had a problem.

this stuff: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/CA309Z07-Jagwire+Black+Housing+Liner.aspx

I just make sure it has a tight fit in the BB loop and the cable tension keeps it in place.

V-brake noodles have a small length of liner inside that should work.

The cable liner tubing worked. A coworker gave me a small section of it. I had to cut the tip into a very sharp anbled point, feed that point through the eyelet, and pull it through w/ needle nose plyers from the far side.

Thx for the suggestions!
