Does anyong know if GMR is open yet? Or any of the other climbs in that area, Crystal Lake, and East Fork. I know fires are breaking out everywhere and the danger is high.

Baldy Road to the ski lifts are open. park at coates cyclery 760 east foothill blvd, pomona ca, take foothill east to mill-Left on Mill-Right on Baldy Road-Through the village to the ski lifts.

Saturday 10/10 I'm meeting Vertical Bob and others at Encanto @ 8am. Plan to ride up 39 for a look around and up East Fork to Baldy.

Sunny day. Warm, not too hot. Lots of riders on the 39 and East Fork. Got up to Ski Lifts and met Sian the operator of the Lifts at 'Olafs Hut'. Cool lady. Showed me the route to the summit that MTB'rs use. She stocks GU gels and snacks, coffee, cocoa and...bike tubes..hah..cool. Biker friendly place. Check her out...if you left a pair of white arm warmers and a spare tube - she's holding them for you. Got 110 miles and probably about 8500'.

Does that mean riders were coming up Hwy39 FROM Azusa and crossing East Fork to GMR? Thanks much.

We started in Duarte (Encanto Park) and took the SGRT to 39. Lots of riders on 39 so I'll assume some of them came up Azusa too.
East Fork was open, plenty of campers off the road. Camp Williams was untouched by fire and open for business.

on Friday 10/9 I rode up from Encanto, over to GMR, up to East Fork road, then down 39. First time doing it. Great, though definitely tired by the end!
