I'm finally trading up from a 15-year old Cannondale. I live in NYC and ride probably twice a week in the summer and that's it, so don't want to spend too much - under $1000.

I think i've narrowed my search down to 3 makes/models (but i'm certainly open to any suggestions).

What does the board think of these:

Specialized Allez Sport
Felt F80
Cannondale R400

And, again, i'm open to any other suggestions...as you can tell, these all come in right around $800...i need to add clipless pedals and don't want to make many other changes...

Thanks in advance!

Scattante R550 or R650 at Supergo. Great bang for the buck.

Are you sure those are actually an upgrade over your Cannondale? Is your old one a low-end model?

Second the Scattante as well as Supergo. You ain't gonna find an Ultegra equipped bike for less than 950, and Supego does a nice job packaging it up and shipping it to you.

Reviews on Supergo itself suggest inferior wheels and saddle...any truth to this?

And is the frame superior to the others as well?

I have an Allez Sport, and it is a great bike. The only thing I have changed is the chain, and a wheel upgraded (Dura ace/open pros) after about 3000 miles.

My buddy bought both a 650 and CFR. He did have a problem with replacing the tube on one bike. Frequent punctures. (I think on the 650) It could be due to inferior rim strips. But in my opinion both these bikes are excellent deals with Ultegra level components. The CFR is a really nice frame. Where can you get carbon for that kind of price??? As far as the saddle is concerned..that's an individual type of thing. You must find the right saddle sometimes by trial and error. Good Luck.
