Road Cycling - Ahhh fiddlesticks. Peddles "snapped"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well I have these pretty old pedals on my bike, they have the toe-clips with the little straps that run around the pedal. Ok, let me see if I can make a little visual here. The "cages" (dont know what to call em) were facing down and as I started peddling they scraped against the ground pretty hard, when I looked down to put my foot into the "cage" the strap was snapped in half. :(
So I looked around abit, I couldnt find anyone selling a set of pedals with the cages, only clipless pedals. So does anyone know where I can find a cheaper set of pedals w/ cages or just the cage part. And please dont tell me to go buy clipless pedals cause I dont have $200 to spend on pedals and some cycling shoes.
Thanks, and if noone got this post I will take a pic.

Any bike shop worth its salt will be able to sell you peddles with clips and straps. Hell, I've got a set or two laying around here somewhere myself. Last time I bought a set, they cost me around fifteen bucks.

Plastic ones are generally less than ten dollars and can be found at your local bike shop. If they don't have them, they can order them. You can buy them online, but at that price point, the shipping costs will make up for any savings in price. If you want steel or aluminum ones, the seach is a little more difficult. Check with your LBS, but if they can't get them, Harris cyclery can. http://www.harriscyclery.com.

MKS make some good traditional pedals. The Sylvian Touring model is double sides and works well with toe clips. I cant see any point in buying a more expensive model.
I think Rivendell do them, but most shops with a touring dept should.

http://fixedgear.americancyclery.com/ these are not bad for the money, but you can definitely get cheaper ones.
The things you call "cages", I call "rails" -- I'm confident we're talking about the same thing. :)
If they are the screw-on type, you might be able to replace the busted part with an old bit from some crappy pedals.
I busted the rails on my good MKS pedals, and was able to replace the bit using old Suntour Cyclones. The holes matched up close enough.

The "cages" are called Toe Clips. They are a separate item to the pedal, and cost about $10 for a nylon/plastic pair, usually available in s/m/l sizes. Metal ones (by Christophe) are harder to find.

Hey check out what Nashbar.com has for pedals in the "platform pedal" variety. The first pair listed is for 29.95 complete and weigh only 120gr or so. I'm picking up a set for fun....my present set weighs about 25gr with clips on.
At the LBS you should be able to find pedals for under 20.00 and clips for under 10.00 no prob....I did last nite.
