The 2009 list:

Jeff Beck
Little Anthony & the Imperials
Metallica
Run-D.M.C.
Bobby Womack
Wanda Jackson
Bill Black
DJ Fontana
Spooner Oldham

Seriously - Run-DMC gets in, Stevie Ray Vaughan does not? WTF?

Maybe they're waiting for the blues hall of fame?

Honestly, who can figure out how those stupid institutions decide anything? Didn't Beck already get in?

SRV or his legacy don't need the Rock Hall of Fame. He is considerably beyond the Rock Hall of Fame.

Was he nominated?

Can you imagine if Stevie and Jimmy were still around? Just a wishful thought.

Best regards,

Mike

True, that. The word "pantheon" comes to mind.

R&R hall of fame is a joke. Some cheesy tourist trap.

I know everyone there except Spooner Oldham (is that the guy who managed the Stones? Andrew Loog?)

For those who didn't know, Bill Black and DJ Fontana were Elvis' original rhythm section at Sun.

I am hoping that means Scotty Moore, his original lead guitarist is already well entrenched in the HoF, fwiw....that man's guitar is as least as responsible for Rock and Roll as Elvis' hips and lips were.

If the Beach Boys got in, I don't see what the beef would be there.

It's as pointless as discussing who was the best ever [insert professional athlete position]. Who gives a rip :notamused:

So in 2008 they snubbed Jeff Beck and Metalica and all their fans got all huffy. Them is the breaks. They will get around to it one year or other.

I remember seeing Beck diss the Yardbirds as he was inducted...so, do you go in more than once if you were in more than one HoF band?

That would be interesting in Baseball...Roger Clemens could go in as a Yankee and a Red Sox.

Hank Williams is not a member of the Grand ole Opry, which he contributed a lot to, and they use him and his likeliness in advertising/display.

I got a good feeling the Rock n Roll hall of fame is not using SRV for advertising, there are much bigger fish to FRY in the music industry.

Man oh man if SRV was still around making music. Same could be said of a lot of musicians who have passed.

And, he would be in the Blues hall of fame (or whatever they call it if there is one) not Rock n Roll!

We (the listening public) should be the ones who decide on entry.

Spooner Oldham was a great piano and organ player with a rollicky ***** tonk feel.
He was an essential sideman to Neil Young when ever Crazy Horse was put on the shelf by Neil so Neil could get country-folk rock funky.
(Think all the great tunes on Harvest, Comes a Time, Old Ways, Harvest Moon, Prairie Wind)

Spooner also helped define the Southern California sound as a sideman for Linda Ronstadt,Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon etc.

He passed away recently. Thanks for all the great music Spooner.

Rush STILL is not in there. Bastards. Of course, I would not consider Rush rock and roll, either.
