If you can't find someone who wants it on BikeForums, instead of dropping it into the trash, consider giving it to a local bike shop.

Some shops keep used parts bins and give the stuff away to needy customers. And even if the shop makes a few bucks on your item, it's better it gets used than goes to a landfill.

*smacks forehead* I had a few of those that I dumped in the recycling bin just before New Year's - that would have been a good idea!

Or look for a bike co-op/recycler in your area. If you live near a large city there is probably one close.

You pay shipping.

Size 46 Duegi Mtn shoes, fits like most 46,5 or 47. Plenty useable. Left shoe cracked @ cleat hole, makes no difference on use or performance. Need new cleat plate inserts ($1 LBS part.)

This year, in the spirit of Pay it Forward and in honor of Sheldon Brown, who paid if forward plenty, I'm going to give away a bike. I see people every day who may be able to use one, kids and adults, and never really think about it. I figure I can pull over the car, stop, get the bike off the rack and just hand it over. You never know, you may be creating a new Lance or a life biker. If not, so what.

PS, the first bike part I ever gave away came back to me today in a picture of the guy's finished fixie.
V way kool it was, yoda.

Have:

(2 sets) Platform pedals that came with my Giant Rainier and Raleigh M50-DX.

Clipless pedals that also came with the Giant Rainier. Shimano M505, I think. Will try to find cleats.

Two handelbars - the ones that came with the Giant Rainier and Raleigh M50-DX.

MTB suspension fork (yes, from the same Giant Rainier). Rock Shox Judy - needs maintenance/rebuild, but still works, just a little cushy.

Would rather someone new or in need put these to use rather than go through the rigmarole of listing them on eBay. Since there are two sets of pedals and handlebars, please take only one if you need them. After PMing me with your ZIP code, I'll get the exact amount of shipping, respond to you and you can PayPal me the postage.

Hi, a little background. I just bout a used Trek 930 off of Craigslist today. I haven't ridden in about 15 years! The pedals that came on the bike are pretty bent up and have toe clips and straps. I don't think I am quite ready for strapping my foot to the pedals though. Would the platform pedals that you have be a good match for this bike?

Hello, I would like the fork, if still available! I promised to fix up my friends old mountainbike, after his fork got stolen! how much of the headset is included?

Just wanted to post a follow up on here. RB1-Luvr gave me a neglected mixte peugeot that a friend of his found under his deck. The bike had deck treatment all over it and the derailleurs were pretty gummed up. Me and one of my friends took some time yesterday to open out the RD and loosen some tension on the spring so it would start working again. A little bit of adjustment to the rd+fd, tightening the springs on the brakes, and fixing the tube on the tire got the bike running again.

My friend was so excited when she got the bike that it was awesome! Thanks for helping us put this together!

In spirit of this and sheldon brown, we're going to be collecting bikes from the fire station and police station, fixing them up and giving them up for student use. It's going to be an amazing way to do what Sheldon loved to do most: work on bikes and advocate cycling.

My thanks to all of you!

- Black, 120mm, 105° (slight rise), 1-1/8", 31.8mm
- removable face plate with 2 bolts
- more info at http://www.salsacycles.com/stems.html

It's a take-off from a cyclocross rig. I'd use it on that or a road bike.

Ummmm.

Hey, newbies, understand the newbness, but Pay It Forward is not a swap. This is an opportunity to send yer spare swag south sans spinach. For the love of it.

In other words, you offer, others claim. Shipping can be your affair or theirs.

And of course a hearty welcome to Bike Forums, glad you are around.

PAID FORWARD - Bike Giveaway IMO Sheldon Brown

A few weeks ago, I figured I'd float the idea to give away a bike in memory and spirit of Sheldon Brown.
I'd planned to give away an unused 20" Roadmaster I've had on hooks for 3 years. I mentioned it to a colleague, and he gave me an unused 26" Huffy mountain bike.

Yesterday, both bikes went to a family with 10 kids and little money.

The guy who gave me the Huffy has found a couple more. I mentioned it to a lady whom I'd loaned a bike, and she's got a couple more. One bike has now turned into six, free to kids who need a ride...

have 1 1/8" threadless unpainted uncut (300mm) fork with canti boses.

short background on the fork:

was a f*ck up in my order. when i got it it was supposed to be a 1" but the store i got it from said it would cost more to have this one returned and send me out the 1". Short and sweet I got the 1" threadless fork for free and paid for this one, so I'm giving this one away to keep in good spirits.
