Main post >>> As my earlier post details, I'm not a big fan of Heras this year, but that's not the point of this post. Reading the write up on cyclingnews.com, it sounds like Heras just quit because he was too far back. Is there something that maybe wasn't mentioned. Was he injured? Obviously, he's not been mentioned much this tour and since he's not on my "Cheer for" list this year, I haven't really followed him. I know he was inolved in a crash, but was he injured?

Side thoughts >>> Man, lots of major names dropping out: Hamilton, Petacchi, Cipollini (though we all saw that one coming :) ) and now Heras... In some respects, this has been the ugliest Tour I've watched in a while... And how's this for a reason why you dropped out? "Janek Tombak (Cofidis) was also forced to abandon after slicing his fingers in his front wheel while trying to adjust his computer sensor" Ouch... (and at the risk of being flamed, it seems somehow fitting that Cofidis is largely absent the year Lance breaks the record (though it looks like they'll have the dubious honor of sponsoring the lanterne rouge :D ))

He had a knee problem.

OK. Thanks Devil. CyclingNews didn't detail that in the Stage 17 write-up. Was it from the wreck or something else? I assume he'll try for the Vuelta?

I'm sure he will try to win the Vuelta again. I don't think Saiz would let him skip it. And I'm not sure where the knee injury came from, procycling only said he had a "nagging knee injury" and was ill.
