so no help,,, is says turn by turn,,, just want to confirm,,,,,,,
It only understands the route info from Mapsource. Which means City Select, versus Topo. You'll need to buy the maps additionally. I'd suggest the Dakota 20 personally, that micro-sd slot comes in handy. Turn alert is an audible beep with a display change, not voice like a Nuvi.
You can't just download a Bikely style map from the Internet and put it on the device. Even about the best free maps (Ibycus) don't include routing info.

Have you looked at the 705? You may be able to get one for the price of the 20.

Dakota 20 is $349 list + the maps. It'll actually do more than the 705 *unless* you need it to talk to a powertap. The fact that it also takes AA's is a plus. The cadence sensor and HR strap if you pay $60 for the pair you've paid too much.So basically for less than $500 for unit, maps and accessories you can do almost all that the 705 can do (barring Powertap) and some things it can't.

I hear you on the AA's. Did did a search and there are no great deals on the 705 at the moment too. I had an Oregon for a while and was not impressed with the screen. Very hard to read in daylight. Not sure if they have improved that or not. SD slot is a must on these devices. To get one without is like shooting yourself in the foot.
