Found a Miyata 1000 when I stopped by the bicycle co-op and aside from needing a new headset and new rims the bike is is primo condition with nary a scratch.
It is equipped with a Biopace touring triple, STX cantis, STX rear D, STX front D, 105 levers, Suntour Bar cons, Shimano 600 pedals, high flange Normandy hubs and Araya sw wheels.
It's green..and it is my size and am wondering what these have been selling for of late so that I might make a fair offer.
Figure it dates to the late eighties and wish I had my camera with me.
It is gorgeous.

$500 if it has racks. The STX setup is in high demand around here.

I was under the impression that the late 80's models are higher in demand? I would guess north of 500.00.... more like 800.00? It seems those numbers were suggested on the last 1000 appraisal.

It has racks...the rear is a low end Bor Yeuh and the front is a Vetta lowrider.
I did not think the STX was as desirable as other groupos but that is some good info.
Because of the "one thousand" it is a later model.
Thanks for the estimates.
I don't consider STX components as desirable either. Guess I need to strip them off the Univega MTB I have hanging in the shop.
While the Miyata 1000 is the top of the heap of Japanese touring bikes, this one has a real frankenbike mix of components. I think that will hold value down a bit, from the $700 mark to the $600 area. Really depends how well it is marketed and when.

If I was able to acquire this bike I can see it with new wheels LX or XT hubs laced to to Mavic A319's, a complete Suntour drivetrain with Cyclone Mk2 front and rear, and XTR cantis.
I think I would enjoy this bike more and ride it far more than my Ron Cooper road bike.

1000s sell for whatever the buyer is willing to pay. Few bike command such prices, not even the Race Miyatas which I've seen languish at four hundred. The OP's bike is great in any case. Green was a big color in '83, blues and blacks in other years. The BIO-Pace is '86 or later. If it's a "late eighties" it would need to have a more lightly colored head tube.. That's a start. A ser'# tells but the coor defines the year as well. In this case the parts are ??? IT'S A great BIKE
