Hey guys I am new to the site. I have been stalking for a while but this is my first time posting. Well today I did my longest ride ever. I did 30 miles for a charity ride. I just got my new bike two weeks ago and actually felt very comfortable on it. I am 6' 258 pounds and I found it very strange how easily I did the ride. I was very nervous about doing it until I started coming on this site and reading post from you guys. So thank you for all of the inspiration.

Good Job,

I remember when I rode my first 30 miles last year. I am 6' 2" and 240 lbs. What kind of bike?

I got a Schwinn Super Sport.. Im not sure of the year but its an actually road bike not the flat bar road bikes that they are now. I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it. It has Shimano 105 components and I got it for $250

Congrats dude! I too did my first 30 miles yesterday on the Towpath trail on my Giant Sedone. Was gonna try a 50 miler but I started out to late in the day, and it started to get cold and I wasn't dressed for it.
I'm 6'5" and weigh 245 and am 48 years old.
Once you get past the sore butt, sore hands, sore shoulders, and finally get used to riding....you find that you can ride further than you ever thought possible.

Definitely gonna do a 50 miler before this riding season ends. All it takes is time...and sometimes that is hard to come by/.

Yea there was a 50 mile section to this ride and I am kind of disappointed that I didnt do it because I feel like I could have definitely done it.

Good deal, you were well prepared for the distance obviously. I am sure this will only make you want to ride more.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Welcome. I draw the same inspiration on here. I did my first 50 yesterday and our weight and height are about the same. I was surprised at the speed I did mine since my training rides were much slower. I had some left in the tank and probably could have finished a 62. Maybe before the year is out.:thumb:

Absolutely. I really only rode for about 2 weeks before the ride but rode almost everyday. I really want to go riding today but it is pouring rain. I might go anyway. Little water never hurt anyone.

Invest in an indoor trainer for the rainy days.:thumb:

I have recently been looking at trainers but decided to keep it outdoors until it gets cold. I cant really afford one right now so I will have to save up.

Welcome and congratulations! (But "lurking" is a bit more appropriate than "stalking"!) :innocent:

Congrats on your distance.

Just remember, a 40 or 50 mile ride is only a 10 or 20 mile ride longer. And, 10 or 20 is easy.....
