I recently replaced the Look PP237s I've used for years with a pair of Speedplay X2's. On my ride yesterday I began to feel like my saddle was too high, and I'm thinking the X2s must have a lower stack height, and I need to lower my saddle to compensate. Is this the case? Its hard to tell by eye and I don't have calipers to measure.

The difference is something on the order 0f 8-10 mm.

I recently did the same switch. Except I ended up raising my saddle, about 5 mm. I think I needed to raise it a bit before hand anyway. So what do you think of the pedals compared to the Look pedals? I rode Looks for a about 1 1/2 and didn't fall in love with them. The speedplays so far are excellent.

The shoe/cleat combo will also affect the seat height. If the adapter is needed, which it is in most cases, this puts your foot higher above the pedal.

Overall, I'd say I like them. I haven't really got the hang of clicking in yet, but I do like the double-sided entry. Lightweight, cool looking. My big gripe with my Looks was the creaking, a little wear on the cleats and they start making a lot of noise. I had an older, very heavy pair of Looks that didn't have this problem, but my newer ones did. The Speedplays have been silent so far.

I switched from Look to X2 then to Zero and am happy now.

Don't forget to put a little lube in the cleat on the parts of the spring that clip into the pedals--makes clipping in easier.
