I'll be in Temecula for the weekend of the 3rd and 4th (next weekend). Saturday is a birthday party, and Sunday the 4th I want to climb Palomar in the early am. I'm doing it solo if necessary, but would enjoy company. It'll be my third trip up. Probably starting at Harrah's, to the observatory and back. A stop at Mother's would be nice. Takers?

Early is good, how early?

I am still gagging, heaving & nauseated over the toilet with an agonizing Palomar-hangover and now you're dangling another glass of lukewarm bourbon under my nose...

I'm in. What's the start time & point? :)

P.S. Don't drink too much at the party, or I'll taunt you unmerciful!

The party is for a 9 year old, so it's not gonna be a drunken orgy, although last year at this time I did drink one or two more than I should have, but that's because a neighbor was having a football watching party in his garage and kept pushing booze on me. It didn't really affect my ride the next day other than having to get up a few times at night to wizz. I'll bring barf bags if you need them:D, but it's not gonna be a double climb (south and east grades) unless you want to do that by yerself. I just wanna climb South Grade to the observatory with mid-tempo grace and dignity, enjoy a snack and beverage at the resturant, then fly down like I have purpose.

One good reason for an early start is to avoid heat, BUT the forecast for Sunday at Palomar is supposed to be quite cool. Perfect for climbing, but if there's any low cloud cover like there was last year at this time when I first went up, it can be rather nipply on the way down. So, because heat won't be a factor, I'm not gonna press for a daybreak start time. 8am is fine with me. I'll bring a windbreaker to the start location (Harrah's), but may opt to leave it and just grab some newspaper at the restaurant to stuff up my jersey for the way down.

Harrah's at 8.

NUTS! I'm sorry Sisko! I forgot 10/4 is the Tour de Poway and I'll be riding with a bunch of lowlanders and tri-chicks.
I can't make this one. :(

There's already another Palomar Assault organized for 10/10... care to make it two weekends in a row?

At least your weather will be mild. Valley Center has a forecasted high of only 73! The last three times I've been up that sucker, it's been 90 or well over.

A week from the last, a week to the next..., oh wait TT's that weekend:roflmao2: but 10/4 I can't justify a solo ride down but if I have riders and considering mid 60's forecast, I'm still on. Will know for sure by Sat. noon or sooner.

I'm still going up Palomar on the 4th, starting at 8am from Harrahs. Company would be great.

If it's gonna be cool and cloudy, I'll even consider starting an hour later if that helps bring out some more peeps.

Sorry mate, edge of an injury, aggravated ankle tendinitis, this morning's ride. Going to stay close to home where I can call my SAG support if need be. Have safe climb. I envy you the weather, its been high 90's my only two times up.
