Cyclocross - Why doesn't Shimano make CX chainrings?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Seems like there's plenty of people who would ride them. Has Shimano ever indicated that they'd market CX rings?

They make them. Whether you can get them or not depends on your local Shimano distributor. You can buy 46t Dura Ace rings, for example, but only in the Netherlands afaik. Just stick with Stronglight for now.

The 46t Dura Ace 7800 is typically Pro only. They make small runs, send them off to the Pros and if they have any left over, they will sell them to the public.

As far as the 7900 46T ring, i would look elsewhere. I asked shimano at interbike and they said they have no plans on making one... But it looks like Adam Craig had a 46t ring on his Di2 prototype Giant TCX

what are you using now with your campy drivetrain? Im strongly considering changing as well.

I'm using a Sram S900 crank with a Quarq CinQo and Sram 46/38 rings. B Bike has the same cranks and rings w/o the power meter

I ran a FSA Gossamer 46/36 last year but the shifting was less than steller. The Sram rings work well.

What limitations on Campagnolo cranks? I know the rings aren't easy to buy in the USA, but you can buy a wide range of rings in 135bcd from Miche, Gephardt, TA and Stronglight.

e.g. http://xxcycle.com/standard-135-campa-1,,en.php

TA and Stronglight also make Campagnolo CT compatible rings... but I got around that by buying a Mirage Square Taper crank. The old Xenon/Mirage/Veloce/Centaur crank took regular 110bcd rings.

not being able to buy the rings in the usa is indeed a limitation
