Could anyone offer me their estimate of the Craigs List value of a 1983 Team Fuji, with only mild frame scraches, none to negligeable rust, and completely original componentry (including cheap vinyl Fujita saddle). It is fully functional and saw light use in its early 4-5 years, then none for the last 20 or so years. This is Boston...

Hard to gauge value without pictures.

Not to step on the feet of the fellow member, pictures are best. Since you're in a buying not a selling possition though and it 's dif. to post pics.... The Team was a nice one, really nice; the frame, comps. all better than avg. From my point of view, providing it's clean and mostly OE, your paying two for it would be a full but fair price. The model doesn't come around every day. You can see it up-close (unlike e-bay) .. both try it and pick it up yourself (unlike e-bay) Scratches don't bug me
.... All this could be considered. On a personal note, I would pay more for a Team than for competing models/brands in that year.. bunch o' reasons. You might too.

Thanks - much appreciated. Sorry about not having pictures - I guess I could have grabbed it from CL, but it was a single low resolution shot and showed nothing about the condition. Your encouragement helped Old and New. I just brought it home for $100. It seems to fit me nicely and it is in as good a shape as I have ever seen a bike of that vintage - no rust whatsoever. So now I'm curious (and psyched), why do you hold it above competing models from that day? It is the build quality?

A Fuji Team that's a good fit from that vintage for $100 is a bargain. I have two Teams, an 85 and a 86. They are very light, well made chromoly frames that were made in Japan. Japanese mid and higher end frames are desirable for their quality construction and usually good finish. Fuji put nice components on the Team and reasonably nice wheelsets. IMHO, a Team in nice condition should sell for around $200, maybe more if it's ride ready with new tires.
For what you paid for that quality level of a bike you should ride it like you stole it.
