Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking - Specialized Tricross Comp v Bianchi Axis?

I currently do not have a car and am looking to purchase a cyclocross for transportation mainly to and from work. Not knowing much about bikes, I'd like some opinions on the Specialized Tricross Comp v the 2008 Bianchi Axis. I'm not sure what year the specialized is. Both come with stock components. They are both going for about $700. Is this a decent price or would I be overpaying? The Axis comes with the original set of tires and a second set of road tires.

Looks like a good price for both if they are in good shape and fit you well. I have a 2006 Tricross Comp that I bought back in 2007 for $900. Great bike. Would be a good bike for being "car free". Not sure about the Bianchi, never owned one.

Tricross Comp for $700? That's a great price. They haven't changed much in the last couple of years.

I use to own the Axis 2008 model and now own the 2009 tricross expert. As far as geometry, the specialized is slightly more stable due to the longer chainstays (15mm more). The axis is a little more responsive to acceleration. I think the specialized will give you more comfort and ease with carrying larger loads. I enjoy both bikes equally though and I think the price is good for either.
