Southern California - Santa Barbara peeps

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just want to see if there is anyone else out there... here...

Nah, i didn't ride saturday. I rode with them sunday - slowest ride I've done in my life. I commute on rest days faster than that...
Hey, I might not be a Sta Barbara type snob cyclist :innocent: but I do ride them thar roads.
Sunday we did the Vta -> Carp -> Ojai -> Sta Paula -> Vta loop. 70 miles. Saw a ton of "bikes on roadway" signs. Bonked on the hill up to Summit and had to sit for 20 minutes or so at the fire station. There were lots of racer types on motorcycles and a couple of LOUD cars really pushing the envelope but nothing unusual or heavy traffic.
The fog as we left/returned to Vta sucked. 60 degrees at the start, 90+ with hot side winds in the middle, 60 and foggy/drizzly at the end is not conducive to comfortable cycling.
6 hours overall time. Yeah, we're slow but we finish.

I missed the ucsb rides this past weekend, but will be there next weekend. It would be nice to define how much of a noob I am.

Don't worry, half the people on the team are complete "noobs". I was a noob when i started riding for UCSB, but they whip people into shape pretty quickly. You will be surprised at how much stronger a cyclist you can become after spending a few months with regular training and peers to push you harder and faster.
Subscribe to the google group and try not to miss the team meetings, they are very important.

That sounds cool. I'm going on the afternoon ride today and will make sure to make it to the meeting tomorrow.
