139WW Looks sexy! I've been eyeing similar baskets that are too expensive for me, so hopefully I'll be able to pick one up. Msrp seems a little high, but I'm hoping the price will drop down closer to the existing 139 basket's $12 price. I can't imagine that a few pieces of wood cost them that much more to manufacture.

Pretty. I'm looking for some additional "bling" for the bike I'm hoping to build around an S3X hub. This might make a nice accessory.

This looks awesome. Will they make the wood option available for smaller baskets? My female friends would love that.

I don't know, but I hope so. I really don't want to pay anywhere close to the $70 MSRP though.
Anybody know what the MSRP of the regular 139 basket is? So we can compare MSRP to actual market price? It sells for $12, so if the MSRP is around $50 or so then that would be a good sign.
If not, then I think I will just add some stained wood slats to a $12 139. Shouldn't be too hard and would be much cheaper than $70.

Add your own wood and save the bucks. As soon as one hits the shops I am going to see how the wood is fastened down and build my own.

They are using pop rivets? or are they using a blind rivet with the smooth head?

Easy to customize your own basket with a wood bottom.
Hat's off to cabana 4 life -- that's a good lucking bucket.
And the cupholders -- a nice touch! So is the cork bottom.
Good work. I hope you sell a bunch.

I have a couple smaller Wald baskets. It would be nice to have a wooden bottom for them....

The wood basket has a very nice eco-friendly look, but my bike falls over from time to time so I worry that wood wouldn't hold up for long. :(

Not hard to do, which baskets do you have? All it takes is a few sanded and varnished wood slats, a piece of galvanized strapping and some 3/16"-1/4" blind rivets.
All of which I probably having laying around the place.;)

How would you go about riveting them yourself? Do you need special tools?

The Wald baskets that I have, Aaron are the classic metal grocery type that come on and off, with the handle...
I've thought about fabric liners, as small items aren't contained too well.
But a bottom would be nice...:)

Couple of ways, you could use small carriage bolts. But a bucked rivet is pretty easy to do, you basically put an anvil against one end and smack the other with a hammer. If it is done in a factory setting they will either use some type of press or possibly an air hammer.
As soon as I can see one and get some pictures of the underside I will know how I would go about making one. I have a bunch of aircraft type rivets and tools...I own a couple of vintage Airstreams and my wife's uncle does vintage aircraft.

BTW that is in NC Sandhills, we nearly tripled our annual average snowfall with that storm last year.
