LBS has a trek1000 for $489 and a specialized allez(triple i'm assuming) for $550. i have yet to go and look at these in person but i figured i'd ask for opinions here first.

so which one is lighter and which is the better deal?

thanks

It is a matter of preference although the Allez has better specs that justify the price difference - a Tiagra rear derailleur vs. Sora and a carbon fork instead of alloy. As for deals, I think you will soon start getting bigger discounts on 2004 closeouts.
