I got handed down a fifteen year old Burley trailer over the holidays and have been have a ball with it.

Its been the highlight of my son and my weekends of late.

Ususally I'll get a Saturday thirty to fifty mile dawn ride in on my road bike and then a mid day fifteen with the slicked MTB, Burley, and the boy.

Fifteen miles with the trailer feels harder than fourty on the roadie. The trailer itself weighs next to nothing, but with fourty-two pounds of boy and probably ten more of remote control cars, lunch, and extra clothes the workout is great.

We'll hit the beach path, some swings, the ice cream shop, and a bit of lounging with Em falling to sleep on the ride home.

It's a lot of fun to blow by all the weekend riders and drafting club riders on their road bikes. It's fun to see their faces traveling at ninteen miles an hour when they realize I'm there.

Biking and family. Can life get any better?

P.S. Hauling this trailer around has me thinking. What if it was touring gear in there?........

... and don't forget the 'parachute effect'. God help you if you cop a headwind with one of those things.

I''ve also noticed when riding with one of these things that they are real head turners. I've never heard so many spontaneous positive comments from complete strangers as when I'm towing the boy in the trailer.

You know, I've often thought the same thing. I mean, if I were to buy a trailer now, just so I have one less thing to think about once I actually have kids, well, it'd be a shame to not use it for
something, right?
