Went on a 25 mile group ride last night through Sorrento Valley with Chris Carmichael and the TCSD. I have only been cycling for about 4 months so i was pretty nervous as i have heard that riding in a group is a little more difficult. My overall opinion was that it wasn't nearly as hard as i thought it was gonna be to hold a good line, as a matter of fact i found it quite silly that i was worrying about that at all. As i am 205lbs i was dropped out the back on the last half of the ride but it was still great to reach in deep and try to keep the gap to a minimum. I see where i stand now. Also it was great to ride with a legend such as Carmichael. he was really nice and i thought it was cool that the guy who trained Lance and many other professionals was in the same peleton as I was. even rode next to him for a minute or two.
Its amazing how easy some of the good riders make it look when they are climbing. it added to my motivation to continue losing weight and training hard.
just wanted to share this with some fellow So Cal riders. will be doing more group rides now to push myself as i have realized that my fear of large group rides was ridiculous.
