Just a quick question.....

I have a older model 12 speed road bike that weights 35 lbs. I would be interesed to know the weight of the newer road bikes that are so popular today? Also, does anyone know the weight of the bike that Lance races?

Thanks...............

Hi,
Lance has a number of different bikes he races on. They weigh about 16 pounds, give or take a little. A typical road bike weight would prob be about 20 pounds. My bike weighs 25 pounds with
fenders and a rack; but it's rugged. This is very rough, but a grand will get you a 20 pound bike. There is a saying, you can have cheap rugged, and light..... pick 2 out of the three.

Mine weighs under 18 lbs setup as I ride it. But then i'm a short guy that rides a 50cm bike.

You can buy a really nice riding 20 pound bike at about a grand and then gradually spend more to make the rotating parts lighter...unless you are climbing big mountains, you will have no real disadvantage riding with people on lighter bikes..buy carbon pedals and better designed and lighter wheelsets first. My new Orbea weighs 1.5 lbs more than my old 'dale, but "rides" lighter...and climbs better.

my cdale is 20 or 21lbs....well lances alp d'huez bike was a little under weight this year and they had to make it heavier so i would have been 15lbs on the nose when it rode it
