Commuting - My commute in pictures. Part 1

I've been promising to post some photos of my commute. So, today Coleen, the kids, and I rode into town to our 'Farmer's Market.' I took the liberty of a slow ride to take some photos of the rural part of my commute. I will post the city portion of my commute in Part 2 in the next week or two.

This is where I get on the pavement. Its 70MPH 2 lane and no shoulder. The speed limit drops at the bottom of the hill to 45MPH. Thehill looks much smaller in the photo than it actually is.

This is the little hill just before an area called "Irish Acres."

Must be a blazingly fast commute...looks rather flat. But, if you're in MT, I suspect that the wind rarely stops blowing...or is that Wyoming...I forget...it's bee a while since I've been out west.

Your right. The route I take is pretty flat and fairly quick. The wind is a constant companion here.

LOL. Depends on the direction. :p

Here is a map of my commute. My primary route is in red it is mostly flat and winding. My secondary route is in blue and is very hilly. The photos in this thread are of the route indicated in red.

Looks like you could mount up some flotation tires for the red route. :D

CZ. Trees, rivers...Nice commute...Hope its' appearance reflects a lack of cars, most of your commutes. how lucky.

Yeah. And on a hot afternoon commute home I get to see bikinis too. :D The "red" route is much more enjoyable. The blue route has no trees until I get into the city. The one advantage of the "blue" route is on the commute home it offers fantastic vistas of the "Little & Big Belt Mountains and the Rocky Mountain front.

On this leg of my commute I may be passed by 10 cars total going the same direction. Fewer going the opposite direction. Most people that live near me use the "blue" route since it is much shorter and enters the city at about its half way point from east to west. The map also only indicates the rural part of the commute. The city part has much more traffic.

So do you take that route in the winter also? It must get a lot of drifts.

Your right, Jean. It does get quite drifty. In fact, both routes are prone to them.

Nice riding area. Also, pretty good photos. I could do with paved shoulders on those roads, but the trade-off in scenery makes up for that.

I agee. I would love to have nice wide paved shoulders. That won't happen any time soon. :rolleyes: Heck, we are lucky to have pavement on the road! Fourtunately, the traffic on this road is pretty light.
What I would really like is to have the "River's Edge Trail" extened all the way out here to near my place. It would be a natural extention of the trail.
