Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hello pedaling brothers and sisters of Northern Cal.
I am a newbie at this board yet I have already learned valuable lessons from reading others experiences in every aspect.
I have tried to buy some customs from some of your seasoned members advertising their bikes for sale but unfortunately, somebody always beats me to it.
I come to you for help and I hope I am not out of line by posting it here.
Since I live in the San Francisco Peninsula, I figure I check with the local members to see if anybody can help me find the bike that I am looking for:

This is my bike, I mean, this is what makes my heart flutter with desire.
The style, the combination, the color, the matching, the aesthetics, the components, the selected color of the components, all the way to the beautiful SF insignia that denotes my beautiful Baghdad By The Bay as the late Herb Caen used to call it.
I discovered SOMA by chance while buying a bicycle in a shop recently. It was a bad ass used SOMA fixie but it was too tall for me. I started looking into them and found and link with this gorgeous baby pictured. No, they don't make this particular model anymore (pictured above) and my heart sank. Yes, I already contacted Renaissance and they don't have it either.
I am hoping, since SOMA is a local company, somebody will have one just like this one (Garnett Red as Soma calls it) and I can cajole them into selling it.
I know it is a long shot, assuming we find one, to convince the owner of letting her go but what else can I do?
Rarely you find love at first sight. Well, it happened to me. I am in love and I cannot shake it off.

Soma actually does still make the Speedster, it's just called Stanyan (http://somafab.com/stanyan.html) now.
It's a different color this year than the red Speedster you posted, but otherwise it's the same thing.

I know brother Zepo, they do but that is not the bike I have fallen in love with.
To show you my commitment of love for THAT garnett red beauty with the tan tape, I inquired to get a Stanyan and have it painted by a company. Well, since the Stanyan already comes painted, one would have to sand it off and re-start the process. Of course no loggoes or insignia to go with and a price tag of about two thousand bucks for having that Stanyan if 'burgundy'. What? Are you freakin' crazy? That's what I felt telling the custom guys but I kept my tongue quiet.
Again, I have not fallen in love with a Stanyan in black nor a Rush in white. I want THAT Garnett Red baby with the tan color handle tape and the silver wares and those tires and wheels and seat. Oh my God...
I get hot just talking about it.
I should have not looked for a SOMA. I would have not found these pictures and I would still be, as we speak, a normal guy, pedaling right along my very insipid hybrid.

Have you already talked to the guys at American Cyclery in SF? Soma's sort of their house brand and they might have something floating around.

No I have not Jim-Bob. I will look them up. Do you know where are they at?
Stanyan Street I think?

Yeah, Stanyan/Frederick. There's two locations, across the street from each other. You want the smaller funkier one on the west side of the street.

I just checked their website and they list no bikes on their site.
There is a link to the different brands they carry but not much. Soma's site I had already visited and they give almost no information except to self promote they make good frames.
I will go there tomorrow and talk to them, maybe they can suggest something.
Thanks bro. I don't know why it had not occurred to me. It is a start...
Well, if that's what you've set your heart on, you just might have to have it repainted. Sometimes, nothing else will do.

They're not the ones that spec'd the job :p
What? Are you freakin' crazy? That's what I felt telling the custom guys but I kept my tongue quiet.

You might check with San Francisco Cyclery, they're also on Stanyan. They had a red Speedster built up as a townie, if memory serves me correctly. I think it was a 56, what size are you looking for?

Thank you too brother Stripes, I will check them out too. I think I am a 54 but not too sure because I tried that book under the crotch trick to figure out the inseam and I kept coming up with 29 and 1/2 sometimes and 30 inches on the dot at other times.

Buy the rest of the stuff and build it or have it built.
Bike Tires Direct is legit as I have done business with them often as have others I know. Jump on it if you really must have this exact bike as even the frame seems to be a bit hard to find.
Problem solved.

Wow, brother RayP, you sure found it. Pricey but this is it.
I have to hand it to you. You FOUND IT.
Well, true love is priceless right?
That frame is pretty sweet with the chrome and red color, I must admit.
Bike lust is a terrible affliction...

How tall are you? I'm 5'5" and I have a 30.5" cycling inseam. 52cm would my size.

I am 5' 7 and 1/2, yet my inseam is almost 30 inches (not quite but closer to 30 inches than 29 1/2)
I would say my size is 52.

Hmm, sounds like your torso is longer than mine. The reach of a 54cm might fit better. I wouldn't worry about standover height. The right reach is more important. Plug your measurements into an online fit calculator and see what it comes back with.
