From this news release:
http://www.ci.kent.wa.us/newsreleases/administration.aspx?id=14416
Someone I know contacted parks and recreation in Kent who said they will basically be installing these temporary berms right in the middle of the trail, and bike travel will be prohibited; only foot traffic will be allowed.
Haven't seen the maps yet, but they will supposedly post closure maps on the Kent site soon.
It will be interesting to see what Tukwila does and if they will follow the same plan. This could bugger up a bunch of commutes for a long long time. Good bet they might leave the berms in place until the dam will be fixed (as long as 6-10 years). Or it may be as short as this winter season if they decide to take them down in between the rainy months.

Thanks for the info and link. At least through Kent and Tukwila there's the option of the Interurban trail. Not quite as nice with the road crossings and boring scenery, but it's a good option.

That's why I was wondering what Tukwila was going to do. Interurban ends right around 405, then you have to hop back on to the green river trail all the way up to boeing field. If tukwila follows the same plan as Kent, looks like I'll be stuck on E. Marginal way/Interurban.

Hoping for advice;
I quit smoking last week, (Wow, I feel better already, but sure is a struggle) I also have a bunch of weight to lose.
I work in Tukwila just off of East Marginal Was So and S. 115th. There is a trail there on the river that I'd like to ride into work on and start cycling. But on Google Maps, it is listed as 38th Ave S. Isn't this the Interurban Trail?
I'd like start riding to and from work and park and ride by the Showare Center on the King County Inturban trail.
Anywhere to find out how far of a ride this is? Google Mpas won't let you map it that I could find and was also wondering how to get from point A to point B.
I know the trails drops you off at Grady Way, but I don't see the trail again until I get to the South Metro Bus Barn along the river.
Any advice and assistance would be great on know how to ride thru this trail b gone area and possible mapping for distance.

According to my info, you might have some problems once interurban stops at fort dent park and merges with the green river trail. They are supposed to be sandbagging the trail between fort dent to where all the casinos are. From there the trail follow interuban until it hits I-5, which should be free of any sand bags. However, it then it branches off and follows the river again, and that supposedly will be sandbagged until you hit the 42nd ave. bridge.
Your choices are limited, but not bad. You have the same route as I have. You'll have to jump on to interurban in a couple spots, however I believe the spots where you have to jump onto the road are 4 lane roads, you should be able to easily take the lane.
So basically, take interuban until it runs out right at the Fun Center, then jump onto interurban until you hit the casinos. Jump onto the trail again past the golf course until you reach I-5 where you would just keep going north (if you wanted you could stay on the sidewalk, but I would just take the lane) until you hit the 42nd ave bridge, then you should be able to get onto the trail again.
If you choose the "walking" option in google maps, it gives you a decent approximation of the bike route. 9.7 miles.

Thanks for the reply. 10mi (20RT) shouldn't be a problem on a bike. I suppose I'll find out how much smoking has killed my cardio. Starting next week if it isn't raining, don't run over the fat guy! ;-)
