Touring - European tours?

I am trying to put together a 3-4 week European tour for this summer. Had originally planned on doing the Rhine River, Amsterdamn to Basel, Switzerland, but am having second thoughts. Am researching my Grandfather's WWII travels, from Normandy, France to Munich, Germany, as a potential tour but am not sure if I have the time to put the route together. So, I am looking for favorite Euro tours done by forum members. Thanks in advance for the advice. Zach.

Just wondering if you've gotten any info on the European tour? I to am trying to get a trip going this summer in Europe.

I have the Rhine River route from a book I got from Amazon. It would be a neat ride from Amsterdamn down into Switzerland, then tour around Switzerland for a week or two, it looks as if most of the ride would be on bike paths, which is a definite plus. The Rhine tour will probably be my default tour. What have you been thinking about? Take care, Zach

I've been thinking of starting in Brussels then going down to Luxembourg and follow the Tour de France a bit then possibly head down towards the Alps and come back up by Italy, Switzerland, Germany and back to Brussels. Thats my plan up to now if I go solo, but can change if I can find someone to join on a trip.

If you guys wanna go more to the east, then you’re welcome to join me. I’m gonna bike mainly in Germany, Czech republic and Austria. Alone now as it seems, since all my friends are so vacillatiiiiiiiiing..... More info thru the link in my signature.

I've got the route map books of the Rhine by Ester Bauer, and I did the Rhine last year from Mainz to Rotterdam. I would heartily recommend the Rhine route, Especially starting from as close to the beginning as you can. The whole way is marked, and every bit is beautiful scenic bike paths, lots of eating, refuelling and camping possibilities (organised and stealth). Might even be persuaded to make a copy or two of the route maps. =)

Hi there there are many places worth cycling in Europe. Some of my favourites are Provence and Cote d'Azur in France, north west Spain ( Pyrenees, Basque Country ) or Switzerland, Austria Italy along the Alps if you like great climbs and stunning scenery. you have french motersickel cops stopping traffic at intersections along the
way, kinda cool riding into paris with a police escort.
