I would expect Rio to get it. The media has totally mis-called this - the Olympics deserve to be in South America for the first time - even if the venue isn't ideal. It is the right thing to do.

Where would you rather attend the Olympics? Rio, Madrid, or Chicago. 'nuff said. Really not a surprise to me.

Nothing compared to the $48 million it took to be included in the bidding process.

a lot depends on what he was wearing and how he looked at the time of the post (jesus bling, collar pop, orange skin) and whether he had a hot chick on his arm. Anyone have a picture?

Brazil won it. To tell you the truth, I'm somewhat disappointed that I won't be able to catch a glimpse of the Olympics in the Midwest but life goes on.

The other factor is the economy. Spain is in an economic slump. Brazil's economy is going strong. Chicago's economy? Even though this goes to 2016, the spending for infrastructure must begin soon. Nobody really knows the price tag of the Beijing Games. But I bet it was a lot.

Considering the number of people who think "prolly" is a word, it probably should've gone to education instead.

Yeah, I kinda wondered about that. Chicago is just a "meh" kind of town. Cool city and all, but going up against Rio and Madrid?

Nothing compared to the $48 million it took to be included in the bidding process.

Actually, the local news is reporting that $70 million was expended on the bid, all of it privately raised. However, the supreme WTF!!! look on the crowd in Daley Plaza when the first round result was announced live was PRICELESS!

I am so relieved. I thought I was going to have to move, or bury my money in the back yard to keep Daley's crew away from it.

Chicago should have used the SLC playbook and bribed the crap out of the committee.

I'm surprised Chicago didn't bribe them...like they do for everything else!

Gooooooooooosh!

I don't see what the big deal is. It's an international competition, it should be held, you know, around the world.
