I am seriously thinking of getting my very active 2 1/2 year old daughter a training bike for xmas - the ones with no pedals.
My questions are do you think they are a good buy? and also could anyone recommend one at a decent price?

How big/tall is she? Any budget/price limits? A trike might be better at this point.

We picked up a KaZAM balace bike for our son thinking he could mix it in with his training wheel bike. He took to it so quickle that I had to go out and find a 12" bike that he could ride without training wheels. My wife thought I was nuts and the guy at my LBS had a skeptical approach, but a week after my sons 3rd birthday he was cruising around on his Giant without training wheels. Since then 2 families have used the KaZAM for their kids. It's pretty basic, but was inexpensive and seems to be holding up fine. Best of luck!!
