Hello. I'm new to the site so I apologize in advance for my ignorance and all rookie mistakes.
This past spring I bought a Katakura Silk road bicycle on Craigslist for my girlfriend. I have been riding an 80's Schwinn Le Tour for a year now so I wanted to get her something comparable so we could start riding together. Unfortunately the frame is just too big for her so while she can manage, I think the time has come to replace it.
Is there a market for these bikes? How much is a bike like this worth?
I believe all of the components are original and we put some money into it for a tune up, new chainring, tubes, tires and cables.
It's a 10-speed with a steel lug frame.
Approx. 53 cm frame with a 32" stand-over height
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area if somebody would like to take a look at it.
Here is my craigslist listing: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/1403538453.html

Katakura made good bicycles and the Silk brand covered a wide range. Unfortunately, this is an entry level, boom era model. While I don't have enough knowledge of your market, I understand it is very high priced. Hopefully, somebody else can provide a value assessment.

One area of note is the rear derailleur, which appears to be a SunTour Skitter. Plese confirm. If so, these are fairly rare and while entry level, may be of some interest to one of the forum members.

You are correct. All of the components are Suntour with a "sport" in the front and "skitter" in the rear.
Additionally, the entire brake system is Diacompe and has fresh cables and pads.
The wheels are Araya with Kenda tires.

+1 Low end entry level bike. But you are in San Fran, so put it on Craigs List and you will probably do pretty well on it.
