the value of this bike: http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa212/MAH_029/DSC_00042-1-1.jpg
I bought it at a flee market around July for $50.
It's a Kent Gran Sprint.
I've looked all over and wont ask my local shop since the people there are always rude to their customers and will give them crap or rip them off just because of their lack of bike knowledge.
Any help will be appreciated.
I added the extra stickers and such to it so it fits my personal taste.
I don't plan on selling it, but more of upgrading it once I find a job.

The quality of Kent bikes generally is equal to the quality of Huffy bikes. So, if it is truly Ready-To-ride, I would say if you paid $50 than it is worth about $50.
edit: I wouldn't bother upgrading it. Ride it till you save up more money for a better bike.

I can't see much about the bike. it's sort of a generic type. If it shifts well and rides true I see no point in up-grading it. It appears to be lightly ridden. There's no reason that you can't get utility & enjoyment out of it. I had a similar Columbia some 35 years ago, it served me well.
If you wreck a wheel for instance, you could put both new ones on it, those made of alloy. Rotational weight as it's called is the single biggest difference one can make in the bikes ride. Leave it as is though for now. The crankset is not important for you to change, the frame doesn't merit it. i already addressed the shifters. Take note of the size, what you do or don't like. All these things are important should you want to get a better bike some day. The fun and lessons that YOUR bike will provide is VERY important so THIS bike is important. I wish I still had my Columbia.
Don't worry about the shops, you'll find a better one, they can be funny like that.

You'll definately get your 50 bucks worth out of it but upgrading it is out of the quesiton. I know that is seems rude but many shops around here won't work on department store bikes - they are just hard if not impossible to get working properly.

Cottered cranks, steel stem and bars, a $50 bike since it looks like in good shape.
$20. Basically Huffy quality. Ride it and get $50 worth of utility out of it. Do not upgrade it unless you have money to burn.

If it's ride ready, it looks like a good starter bike and worth what you paid for it. If you like riding this bike, you're gonna LOVE riding a nice mid or upper level higher quality bike with a chromoly frame that will weigh about 8-10 lbs less and handle way better. So ride it, then decide what you want to do for the future.

Of course I know the lock combination.
I bought it.
The lock and light together is a lot more than $20 together.
I bought the lock at Toys R Us just because I only had like $10 on me at the time and I couldn't find my good lock, so that one is doing me good for now till I can afford a better one.
The light was around $30-$35. I've had the light for over 2 years now and haven't had to change the batteries yet. Cateye lights are amazing.

The only things I actually upgraded was the handlebar tape. It was a crappy leather material.
And I replaced the back tire since it exploded from me leaving it out in 98 degree weather one day.
My front tire is about to get replaced since its starting to crack and form bubbles.
The brake cables broke after like the second or third month of riding so Those had to get replaced as well.
I might consider getting a better seat though since the one it came with is uncomfortable and tearing around the bottom.

It was one of the nicest out of the 3 I found at that flee market too.
There was 2 schwinns.
One going for $150 and the other was $80.
and they looked like crap. $150 bike was some weird color and was rusted and the $80 had more rust on it than actual paint.

I don't doubt it. I troll the thrift stores and garage sales all the time and occasionally flea markets. 50% of the time, I find nothing. Most of the remaining time, I find low end Huffys, Roadmasters and similar. Less than 1% of the time do I find something good (and of this 1%, almost never is the bike my size). So unless you are super patient, the best deals are on Craigs List, even more so if you are looking for a certain size and quality level.
I just look for deals, so I really don't care if the bike is my size or not.
