Since we now have a Hybrid forum, I thought I'd post about my hybrid. Roark, named for the hero of Rand's The Fountainhead, is a 2007 Trek 7.5 fx.

As you can tell, I've made some modifications on him. He's now sporting a Brooks B-17 saddle, extenders on the crankarms to accommodate by severely knocked legs, Nashbar "Land Cruiser" pedals for my size 13 feet, a custom-built 36 spoke rear wheel, Ergon grips, a big, big bell, and a rear rack and panniers from Aviner/Raleigh.

But here's the biggest change I've made:

I tour on my bike, everything from overnight trips to two weeks on the road. This and the next photo were taken in Delmar, Maryland, on a 580 mile June tour. And yes, that's me holding the bike.

In addition to tours, I've commuted to work on Roark, ridden him to the grocery store on shopping trips, used him on club rides, even ridden a century on him. He's a real 'do it all' bike, - just like most hybrids. It's nice we have a Hybrid forum, and I hope to pick up ideas, and perhaps contribute a few, as I participate. :thumb:

Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
