I'm thinking of upgrading my v-brakes to disks. I know I need new hubs, levers, and calipers, but my question is whether my frame is compatible with disk brakes. I have a Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo 2002. The Marchozzi EXR fork (also '02) has mounts that measure about 5 cm but the rear doesn't have this mount so I doubt the frame is disk brake compatible. But there are three holes (see picture below) and I don't know what these are for. Can someone please let me know what these three holes are four and whether they are for disk brakes? The distance between the two top holes is about 4.5 cm. Thanks!http://i854.photobucket.com/albums/ab107/jb2526/jb2526/HKEK.jpg

The fork mounts sound about right, but the holes on the rear dropout don't appear to be disc brake mounts.

No, your frame is not disc brake compatible. Those holes are mounts for fenders and racks.

I'm afraid those aren't disc mounts

Thanks! I didn't think so, but I couldn't figure out what they were. As Severian said, they are probably for fenders/racks. Looks like I'll be using the v's until I can afford a new frame :(

Those are really odd places to put eyelets for racks/fenders. They are typically not drilled directly into the dropout area like that.

Agreed. But all those eBay links are for about twice the price you need to pay. Go into any Trek dealer and get them to order them, I pay around $14 for the whole setup.

The frame is disc compatible. You'll probably need an adapter as already mentioned in the thread.
