Classic & Vintage - My Wife Rocks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Not only is she smoking hot, rocket scientist intelligent, and a good mother, she buys me a new Brooks saddle for every special occasion. We celebrated our 11 year anniversary tonight and after dinner she presented me with a black Brooks B68 to go on my new Pug purchase. While I was gently caressing Proofide into the saddle tonight I realized my other three bikes all sport Brooks saddles that she bought for me on a birthday, Valentine's Day or other special occasion. Not only am I a lucky guy to have such a cool wife but as a bonus I have some very cool bikes!
Anyhow, sorry if this all sounds cheesy :-)

Thanks for making every other guy feel like a lame-o dude! Or is that just me? No No, I mean, I have all those things too....and I still have my hair.

Now that's what I call a "keeper!" Lucky man. My girlfriend (to be wife) got me a Cinelli stem for my vintage Masi. It's those things that are soooooooooooooo priceless. Every time I ride my bike, I think of her. Okay.... Now I'm sounding cheesy too.... Guilty as charged!

That is not cheesy. That is great that you brag about your wife or girlfriend's consideration and thoughtfulness. Be sure to continue to talk up her good qualities among your circle of friends and family. Everyone who knows her will be impressed that you speak highly of her --- and rest assured everything you say will get back to her. Well done!
You guys are so lucky, the closest thing my wife ever did for me was picked up a old beat up Brooks Professional from a buyer on Craigslist while I was out of the country. And when I came back, I have to hear from her all day that she had to wait for an hour to meet with the buyer.

Yes Mr. Christopher I would put your spouse in the keeper catagory for sure. My wife bought me my first Brooks B-17 and also purchased my first Martin guitar (not a cheap purchase) but the best thing is she doesn't harp about my bike and guitar fetish.
Kudos to my wife as well. So far this year, she has found me a Trek 412, a Schwinn Passage, a Cannondale T600, a nice Shimano wheelset with tires, and a few other odds and ends at garage sales (at typical garage sale pricing). She also found me three 1980s Fujis at a thrift shop. Other than the wheelset, all of these have moved on to other riders. The wheelset is slated for a Trek 500 rebuild, as soon as I get the stuck seatpost out......
My wife had no interest in bicycles, until I flipped a couple.

I feel your pain. My (now Long Ex) wife did nothing but biatch and moan about my Cycling hobby. She was only happy if I was spending money on her and the household.. :notamused:

Five years ago, for our 23th (Silver) wedding anniversary, my wife bought me my Vitus 979 Campag Chorus bike - because it was silver in colour. I'd bought her a silver jewellery collection. Both are still in use as we closely approach our 31st anniversary. Sadly her father passed away today so it isn't the happiest of yimes.

You can't post a comment like that and not include a photo... Show us that Brooks! ;)

I'm going to attach the saddle in a bit, I'll post some photos then. And make a mental note, guys, before I was collecting bikes I was collecting firearms. THAT has a lot do to with my wife's enthusiasm too :-) She's much more happy with a garage full of bikes versus a house full of firearms.

None of my wives ever did anything like that for me.

yeah, my wife bought me a wool jersey for our 3rd anniversary.. although, she should have bought me a brooks since the 3rd year is supposed to be leather?
my wife gave me her boyfriend's huffy bargainmaster after she got him a cervelo for his birthday. The brake cables appear to have been sawed halfway through, although that may just be factory spec.

I would rather say: You can't post a comment like that and not include a photo! Show us that wife!

Oh yeah I forgot she bought me an SKS rifle for Christmas one year. So she doesn't mind any of my indulgences unless of course I suddenly developed a penchant for other women then I would probably end up dead from one of my own guns with a Brooks where the sun don't shine and one of my Martin guitars busted over my head and a bike frame wrapped around my remains. Yeah she is real understanding except for that.
