Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Is posting in multiple forums allowed?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I have a question about bike panniers, however I think that it would fit into several of the forums listed. Is there an option for posting the same question in multiple forums?

I don't want to wear out my welcome, but it seems that I might post it in the wrong place then have to come back and repost over and over until I find the correct place.

One board that I use for medical stuff allows something called "cross posting". I put the question in one place and then link to it in another place usually another post with the same subject, but the link in the body of the message.

Thanks
Steve

If you have a question about whether your question is in the correct place, ask a moderator to assess it in the body of that post or in a PM. No forums are ever left alone and readers will also offer this advice or alert a moderator.

Tom Stormcrowe is the lead administrator and moderators in each section of Bike Forums are listed at the bottom of every section.

Multiple posts can be as bad as spam and at least one member was banned recently for taking it to an extreme and becoming harrassing and detrimental to the forums. Dedicated, thorough and orderly communication is crucial to a site that has closer to 200,000 members.

Terms of service detail a full accounting of correct group functioning as well as how automatic points can be accrued as well as violations that necessarily merit being banned. These decisions are fully the final premise of staff and they have offered a second chance more than once. No THIRD chances are recorded to my knowledge and this is perhaps the best reason to ask them when you need to.

Generally we ask that you do not start identical threads in more than one area. Please choose the subforum that you think will supply the best response for your question. If the thread does not get answered where it is, you may contact one of the admins or moderators to relocate your thread to a different subforum where it may get better responses. Thank you.

if you do it in foo there might be a "popular demand" for you to be banned.

^^Or elected president of foo. Whatever that means.

OP: Cross-posting is generally discouraged, mostly because it's easy to abuse. I'm sure that if done infrequently and phrased to match the context of the forum, that no one will care.
