I've been riding my track bike for a year and half, but this weekend I decided to build a cheap single speed. I found a sh1tty road bike at the LBS and through on some extra parts and wheels I had laying around. Its a fun bike to ride. I went for a ride on the bike trail today, and kept forgetting I could coast. Hahaha.

looks great, how is the back brake only thing working out for you though??? I've been tempted to do this on my mtb to get it closer to the feel of my old bmx race bikes.

Back brake only is fine. I'm sure I could stop faster with a front brake, but I didn't have an extra one laying around.

I liked your single speed.

I just converted my older trek 1000 into a SS and it's cool. I thought it was gonna be some work but after getting the parts it took about a half hour. super easy. Unfortunately everyone I tell is less than enthusiastic, they are not bike people as much as I am.

are you still enjoying it?
