Man, did we play like crap. Unlike Stanzi, though, I threw no interceptions this morning (he wears #12). I did get a chance to break in my new Iowa jersey at a local 5K. First time I've run in a race in over a year - been battling a left leg injury - and while I'm not in great run shape, I managed to crank out a 28:41.6 - faster than my college 31:21 (and I'm 47 now) and faster than the 29:28 I ran after taking 20+ years off from running coming back in 2006... got a ways to go before I sniff my 24:57 PR though LOL

Oh, I finished something like 174/1200... so somewhere in the top 20%. I'm good with that. I like to run.

I don't have the hair.

The current Iowa jersey has, since the 1970s, been based on the Steelers jersey. When Fry became head coach, he changed the uniforms to a winner, which, obviously the Steelers were at that time. They've played with its look but its basically the Steelers jersey.

I like it :)

In fact, when I was walking around before the race, someone yelled "GO STEELERS!"

Oregon won against a surprisingly bad Washington State team. Oregon State won at Arizona State, however Arizona State Cheerleaders won big over Oregon State Cheerleaders, so it's a draw.

This week was much better than last week. Penn State 35, Illinois 17.

I have to listen to Hawkeye crowing for the next dang year.

Roar Lions, Roar.

LSU is on borrowed time. But they are still 5-0. Saints are flying high, tho:)

Nah... bagging on PSU fans - I have a 24 or so hour limitation on that for ANY team we beat.

You guys are great fans, great tradition. We just appear to have your # er right now, much like tOSU has owned us forever.

Ron Zook is going to get fired at Illinois.

The Hawkeye's, best ******* and assaulters of students boosters money can buy. I am embarassed by the off-field behavior of Hawkeye players, how many former football/basketball players are in jail?

Sad thing is, IOWA isn't the worst.

Dude... we may have passed each other on campus - I was there 81-84 and 85-87 (BA and MA).

Unfortunately, I agree - thuggism in basketball and football is everywhere in college sports... doesn't help they see it rampant in the pros, with, for the most part, little punishment for being stupid (aside from the recent examples made of Vick and Plaxico Burress).

However, the Miami teams of the 1980s and 90s make our team look like little kids in the thug department.

The biggest mistake made by the athletic department in the last decade - well, actually 2 1/2 - was a) running off Dr. Tom a 1/2) replacing him with the Alfraud and b) not kicking Pierre Pierces ass to the curb the first time he screwed up. It was a huge distraction that killed our basketball program (I do not expect Lickliter can pull our program out of the mess its in - he's a good man, but what Alfraud and PP did to us will take another decade to undo).

KF has started kicking these kids off the team or strongly suggesting that trouble-makers play elsewhere; I've noticed that minor first-time offenders are quickly given the hook for PT too, no matter how good they are. The only way you can stamp out stupid behavior is to cut it at the root.

That said, there are tons of non-athletic team college kids in Iowa City (and elsewhere) arrested every weekend there's a football game for drunkeness and other offenses. I'm sure they vastly outnumber the athletes arrested, but since they get no publicity, its not perceived as a a 'big problem'.
